Gilles Bourdos is the director and screenwriter of Renoir, the story of the painter, his son filmmaker Jean Renoir, and their meeting with model and future actress Catherine Hessling. Released in 2013 starring Michel Bouquet, Vincent Rottiers and Christa Theret, the film was chosen to represent France for the 2014 Academy Awards. Gilles Bourdos also directed Afterwards (2008) with John Malkovich and Romain Duris, A Sight for Sore Eyes (Inquiétudes, 2003) and Disparus (1998).
